Frequently Asked Questions

What is Improv?

In the simplest possible terms, improvisation (improv for short) is a specialized form of acting in which no script is used. The actors make up all of their own dialog as they go along. In essence, the “script” is being written, directed and performed simultaneously. The improvising actor takes over the job of playwright. The actor also assumes the director’s functions in staging the scene. Comedy and improvisation naturally go well together.

Is the show appropriate for everyone?

Although we try to keep it clean, our show may not be for everyone. Our show may contain some adult themes and language. As long as you keep an open mind, are not easily offended, and have a desire to just laugh, let loose, and have a good time, then our show is for you. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. No one under 16 will be allowed!!!

Can I buy tickets at the door?

YES! However, we highly recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time either online, or by fax. You can also make reservations online to purchase tickets at the door (on a limited basis). Our theater is small and has been known to sell out for our shows.

Can anyone take the baics classes?

Anyone age 18 or over can take the Improv U class. No experience is required.
If you have little or no previous improv experience you will first need to attend the Improv U basics class. Every person in the basics class has an opportunity to perform at a show.

Can anyone take the "Next Level" Class?

NO, but anyone age 18 or over who has prior improv experience/training can audition for Next Level Class.
Keep in mind that the basics class is still a good choice for you no matter what your level. It will give you a chance for you to improve your skills, get on the same page with us, and show us what you can do. Most importantly, it helps you build a relationship with other players. The elements of trust and familiarity are a big key to successful improv!

How do I join the troupes?

You must have at least one year of improv experience to be considered for either troupe.  If you qualify, you are welcome to come to our yearly auditions and show us what you've got! You must be at least 18 years old to audition.

Do you ever hold auditions for the troupe?
